Located in Mayfair, Gymkhana is inspired by the colonial British-Indian ‘gymkhana’ clubs where members of high society socialise, eat and drink and play sport. The critically acclaimed restaurant serves contemporary Indian cuisine using seasonal British ingredients with a strong focus on the tandoori oven and club-style chatpatta sharing dishes in a convivial environment.
The restaurant retains original design details championing elements of traditional architecture and styling from gymkhana clubs as well as residential mansions of India with dining-room style and booth seating - taking inspiration from an Edwardian drawing room cabinet. The basement has been re-modelled with a convivial club feel with a Kashmiri Chilli colour palette, bold carpeting and collection of Indian art and the re-positioned lower-ground bar offers an ornate jewel-box shaped area with campaign furniture and detailing.
Chettinad duck dosa with coconut chutney; wild Muntjac biryani and duck egg langoustine Bhurji with Malabar Paratha; game bird Baida Roti served with Girolle Achaar and Bombay Gymkhana club vegetable cutlet with masala ketchup.
The Peach Blow Fizz made with green mango and tropical citrus flavours, with Tanqueray gin, frozen yogurt, egg white and soda, and a refined House Martini inspired by the original dirty martini garnished with an olive brine poppadum.
