Turnips at Borough Market

A veg-centric restaurant from the longstanding Borough Market trader.

Tomas Lidakevicius, former Executive Chef of Jason Atherton’s City Social restaurant heads up the kitchens (in a shipping container converted kitchen) with the outdoor dining space - with heated market-side tables and chairs situated amongst the seasonal fruit and veg stand. Open weekly from Thursday to Sunday for dinner, Lidakevicius serves a vegetable-focused, heavily foraged menu of small plates, as well as a six-course tasting menu (£65 per person), with a strong emphasis on seasonal ingredients.

Example dishes include sweet ’n’ sour Brittany cauliflower, 48-hour short rib served with Yorkshire beans and peas and torpedo watermelon with galangal and lemongrass. The restaurant also serves a selection of cocktails, as well as a wine list celebrating English producers.
