This much-loved Lisbon bar, reminiscent of a New York Prohibition-era speakeasy is currently Portugal’s only entry on the World’s 50 Best Bars list. To enter, you need to reserve in advance and then on arrivel ring the doorbell when you find the inconspicuous entrance. Once inside discover an intimate and convivial lounge - with low-slung, candle-lit tables - with memorabilia lining the walls and a soundtrack of swing, jazz and funk.

This award-winning venue produces some of the most tantalising and tempting concoctions in Lisbon with a leaning towards theatrical, high-spec cocktails and surprising twists on classics - alongside some classy bar snacks, including 50-month-aged São Jorge cheese from the Azores and 24-month dry-cured black Iberian pork presunto.
