Al Maeda

When one thinks of traditional Arabic restaurants, bold colours and majlis-style seating springs to mind, but JBR’s restaurant Al Maeda is far from what U would expect...

Minimalist furniture sits waiting for you, while monochrome prints line the wall and splashes of colour break up the stylish space. While the restaurant itself may feel more like an art gallery than an Arabic restaurant, the menu is packed with all the authentic Middle Eastern dishes once could desire from such an eatery. A range of hot and cold mezzes provide the perfect appetiser before moving on to chicken and lamb tagines, seafood specialities and meat dishes. The mixed grill featuring shish taouk, chicken kofta and lamb tikka is an excellent option if you can’t choose just one meat option. Don’t forget to sample a traditional dessert, such as Muhalabla (milk, sugar and rose water pudding with pistachio nuts), to complete the feast.

Overall, expect upscale dining in a relaxed environment that’s accentuated by the sound of waves crashing just a stone’s throw away from the entrance.
