Sexy Fish

Restaurant tycoon Richard Caring (of Caprice Holdings) has brought his winning formula to Berkeley Square with an all-day brasserie sassily named Sexy Fish...

The hotspot pairs contemporary cuisine with cutting-edge art. For the food, expect an Asian-inspired menu focused around fish and seafood, overseen by Head chef Ben Orpwood (ex Zuma & TOKO Executive Chef) who recently took over the kitchen for the Gone Fishing pop-up at 34. With an open kitchen adding culinary theatre to your dining experience and counter seating with a dazzling 3.5m fresh fish and seafood display, expect dishes such as, 'seared yellowfin tuna with dried miso and wood sorrel', 'salt and pepper Cornish squid', 'steamed duck egg custard with crab and sweet corn' and 'octopus carpaccio with lime and ginger vinaigrette', within menu sections including robata grilled fish, a raw bar, sharing platters, market fish over charcoal and caviar - and a section dedicated to buns, skewers and dumplings.

Head sommelier David Millière has assembled an impressive wine list of approximately 300 bins representing both Old and New World styles, with 30 by the glass. The selection of 10 sakes on offer complement the menu’s Asian flavours. There is also an enticing range of classic and inventive cocktails (many of which explore the four corners of Asia for inspiration). Expect cocktails such as, 'The Mother of Pearl Martini' (served with a mother of pearl shell and spoon and Oscietra caviar) and the 'Bellini Bento Box' for four (with Prosecco plus peach, mango and passion fruit, green apple and pear purées). The bar is overseen by Bar Manager Matteo Cazzaniga.

The restaurant has been designed by Martin Brudnizki with art work by architect Frank Gehry (also behind the Guggenheim in Bilbao and the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris) with installations of shimmering fish, hanging above the bar and a giant crocodile crawling across the north wall of the dining room.

There is also a huge ceiling mural by illustrator Michael Roberts, Style Editor-at-Large of Vanity Fair and world-renowned artist Damien Hirst has created three site-specific artworks for the restaurant. With an interior estimated to have cost around £12 million - which makes it one of the most expensive in the West End. The restaurant also features a coral reef tank in the private room - apparently the largest in the world.

Sexy Fish is open daily from noon until 2am (last drinks orders at 1.30am). Lunch is available from noon to 3pm, and dinner from 5pm to midnight (last food orders).
