Oklava

Ex-Kopapa Head Chef Selin Kiazim has opened her first restaurant in Shoreditch.

Kiazim, who left Peter Gordon's central London restaurant in 2013, has opened Turkish restaurant Oklava with the help of Laura Christie (former operations manager at the Salt Yard group). The restaurant, whose name means 'rolling pin' in Turkish, features a domed stone oven for baking bread, lahmacun, pides and pastries in-house and much of the cooking is done over a bespoke charcoal grill.

Dishes include, 'spicy lamb Koftes, fennel yoghurt and sour cherry dressing', 'chilli-garlic chicken with Za'ater crumb' and 'Cemen glazed lamb cutlets'. There is also a 'Full Turkish Breakfast' available at the weekends.

Since leaving Kopapa, Kiazim has run a number of pop-up restaurants and events, including Trinkets at the Rooftop Cafe at The Exchange and a residency at Carousel. Previously she had been a chef at The Providores and Giles Coren once stated her food 'has the potential to change lives'.
