The 40 seat restaurant offers a selection of yakitori skewers (focused on using all parts of the chicken) served alongside inventive Japanese small plates and rice dishes. Jidori sources much of its produce from Nama Yasai, (a Lewes-based Japanese agricultural specialist), who supplies both fresh vegetables and herbs, with desserts focused around Jidori's soft serve machine.
The restaurant, designed by Giles Reid (also behind the Shard), is centred around an open kitchen complete with a custom made 'Kama-Asa Shoten’ grill as the centrepiece with minimalist decor (think wood, neat lines and brass trim), and is open for both lunch and dinner. A special Yakitoridon is a lunch exclusive and is also available to take away.
The bar serves a short list of cocktails with Japanese spirits and ingredients, alongside both local and Japanese craft beers, whiskies and sake, celebrating the spirit of true yakitori izakayas.
Jidori is a walk-in only and reservations are not avaliable.
