Folloiwng the success of their site on Braodway Market (in Hackney) Hill & Szrok Master Butcher & Cookshop have opened their second outpost on Old Street (taking over the 3 Crowns Pub) as a butcher by day and ‘cookshop’ by night.
Brainchild of young entrepreneur Luca Mathiszig-Lee (previously of The Eagle in Farringdon), Hill & Szrok is named after his partners – Tom Richardson Hill (the butcher) and Alex Szrok (the chef). Hill & Szrok will masterfully combines the traditional butcher with a contemporary 'pub' restaurant that has its roots steeped in history.
Expect a familiar design - reminiscent of a traditional butcher; tiled walls, a wood and brass window fridge for the meat and central marble counter for the butcher - which also functions as a communal dining table. Expect a menu that is 'honest and unfussy' in keeping with the philosophy of an historic cookshop - showcasing the very best meat from the butcher and will utilize every inch of the quality produce.
