While it specialises in authentic French cuisine and patisserie delicacies in an elegant Parisian setting, this Ramadan, Aubaine is drawing inspiration from the region with its unique, innovative Iftar menu. A selection of dates and a refreshing yoghurt drink sets the tone for the set menu meal, which includes a lightly dressed fattoush salad; a choice of lentil or richly flavoured harira soup; followed by a delicious main course - you can choose between melt-in-the-mouth lamb shank with couscous; sweet beef tajine; marinated chicken roast with chermoula sauce, confit onion and pilaf rice; roasted monkfish with saffron rice; or the vegetarian option of gnocchi with sage velouté and artichokes, each dish incorporating a subtle nod to Middle Eastern ingredients while retaining a European refinement. Dessert, in the form of a sticky date pudding with vanilla ice cream, makes for a decadent ending.
The Ramadan set menu is priced at AED 149 per head. They don't accept reservations, so it's best to get there nice and early to beat the queues.
