Bar Termini

Award-winning bartender Tony Conigliaro (of 69 Colebrooke Row fame) has opened his Italian-inspired coffee and aperitif bar in Soho.

Bar Termini in Old Compton Street is named after (and reminisicent of) Rome’s central railway station and duly inspired by traditional Italian culture and 1950s Italy.

Open from 7.30am, it has a simple menu of six Italian coffees (overseen by Marco Arrigo, head of quality for Illy) and classic pastries served at a counter, with espressos for enjoying in the bar rather than for takeaway. From 11am, cocktails that celebrate the Italian aperitif are served. Alongside proseccos, there are four signature versions of a Negroni, priced at £6.50, in addition to a small number of other cocktails available on a constantly changing list, showcasing some of the ideas that Tony has developed in his research and development lab at his Drink Factory in Islington.

Aperitivo-style small plates including panini, carpaccio, Italian hams and cheeses, are available from 11am till late. With a small number of tables, there is only seating for 30 and space for standing at the bar – very much in homage to the kinds of bars found at large Italian railway stations.

There is also one in Marylebone..
