Farmopolis forms a part of Greenwich Peninsula, Europe’s biggest single regeneration project. Created by Secret Productions and Wayward, an award-winning landscape, art and architecture practice, it pioneers a new model for public green space, combining, food, culture and art. Working in partnership with the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Farmopolis has already rehomed thousands of plants and trees from this year’s show, transforming the Jetty into a green oasis surrounded by the iconic vistas of the river Thames.
Farmopolis Café houses 80 covers and an outdoor terrace with 40 covers and is built on the existing jetty using sustainable and recycled materials as much as possible with polytunnel fixtures supporting wooden planters and an herb wall garden next to the kitchen. Farmopolis is open six days a week (closed on Mondays) for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and cakes, dinner and weekend brunch, serving simple food inspired by the setting, seasonal and sourced locally as much as possible. Emmanuel Eger and Felix Weber, The Magazine restaurant’s Head and Sous Chefs are in charge of the Cafe kitchen.

Urban gardening and adopt a plant schemes are already underway alongside a monthly calendar of events that includes workshops, talks, yoga, arts and crafts classes and children’s theatre performances by Arcola Theatre. Ambitions for the next phase of the Farmopolis project include an urban farm development on reclaimed land nearby, giving Emmanuel and Felix an exciting opportunity to create farm-to table menus, working directly with the farmers, growing herbs, florals, fruit and vegetables.
