Big Easy Winebar & Grill by Ernie Els inside the Brickell City Centre is a partnership with the nationally renowned golf icon turned winemaker Ernie Els, affectionately nicknamed “The Big Easy” - and will be the restaurant's first outpost in the U.S.
Executive Chef Maryna Frederiksen, a native South African with more than two decades of experience, will be serving up the authentic taste and flavors of the Western Cape region of South Africa - influenced by Dutch, Indian and English cultures - and including prime cuts of meat and seafood fresh from the South Atlantic and Indian oceans.
Shareable plates include Peri-Peri Chicken Liver (African chili sauce, free-range chicken liver and warm bread), Boerie Bites (farmers sausage, soft roll, onion jam, tomato chutney and cowboy candy), and Chilli-Coffee Rubbed Pork Flatbread (seasonal apples, braai “bbq sauce” and fresh mozzarella).
Big Easy offers selections from the grill including prime dry-aged Kansas City strip and bison ribeye. From the sea, the restaurant features grilled Nigerian prawns and a Cape Malay seafood pot (mussels, Nigerian prawns, and the day’s fresh catch in a coconut-curry broth).
As you settle into one of the leather chairs inside the 5,592 square foot space and begin to feel like you've been transported to the Western Cape, make sure to pair your meal with one of the many South African wines the restaurant will feature on their menu.
