The 'diffusion' concept from one of the world's best-known Peruvian chefs, and the man behind Latin America's best restaurant Centrale, Virgilio Martinez, offers a more casual and pared down experience than his flagship. With a focus on keeping things authentic, Lima Dubai interprets the London concept for the Dubai market, with a few localised touches.
Located in the up-and-coming fine dining courtyard of Citywalk (the Galvin brothers are due to open restaurants here soon too), the two-storey space, complete with the obligatory outdoor terrace, is fresh and contemporary, with nature providing both materials and inspiration. Many of the elements in the interior design are sourced directly from Peru - including a striking mural from a Peruvian artist in the upstairs lounge, and dining tables composed of Amazonian wood and granite.
The sharing-style menu excites and intrigues with Martinez's signature passion for obscure ingredients and indigenous techniques, combined with modern innovation, coming to the fore. Specially created cocktails will be a highlight of Lima Dubai. While the Peruvian boom in Dubai shows no sign of slowing down, this looks set to be a fitting crescendo!
Being transported straight to Lima...
