Ellen Parr, co-founder of The Art of Dining and Pete Kelly bring their Chinese pop-up to Clapton with their first permanent home. The menu maps the breadth of regional Chinese cooking, collected on their travels through China’s more remote corners alongside vibrant flavours influenced by Ellen’s time spent in the kitchens of Moro and Rochelle Canteen.
Accompanying the food is a short wine list - a laidback affair, championing young, environmentally conscious producers, with sparkling wines taking centre stage to compliment the heat of the dishes. Expect a similar look from their pop-ups - with Lucky & Joy’s signature pink lighting and kitsch flowers contrast the exposed brickwork and industrial tables and chairs.
A slice of the Orient, Chinese-inspired dishes and eclectic cocktails
Xi’an lamb burger’ - served in a freshly baked English muffin-style bun with pickles and chilli; crispy chilli squid; sesame noodles’ in a homemade chilli dressing; Sichuan-inspired wontons; Shiitake turnip cake and Yunnan cucumber salad.
Yunnan Flavour - made with coconut-washed vodka, ginger, lemongrass and coriander and Lucky’s G&T with Sichuan peppercorn-infused gin, clear pomelo, and tonic water.
