BB Social Dining

A little gem reinventing DIFC dining with its design, food, and approach.

Founded and hands-on managed by a team with an enviable pedigree - Shabnum Stumpf and partner Spero Panagakis are both ex-Zuma, while the kitchen is headed up by veteran chef, most recently of Peyote Dubai, Alex Stumpf - BB offers a refreshingly different vibe. The restaurant, housed in a former art gallery, is spread across three levels, with the interiors featuring European-style Art Deco inspiration in its décor, and the two compact yet leafy terraces providing some of the most charming alfresco dining spaces in town.

The menu is Asian-inspired (with the occassional nod to Middle Eastern flavours), and divided into various Bs - baos, bites, bowls, and bbq, with something for everyone, and every meal. Whether it's a chicken bang bang bao; a more-ish cauliflower popcorn starter with tofu truffle sauce; hearty pho, true-to-their-name, a social sharing shabu shabu pot; or the succulent lemon chicken or harissa lamb skewers, each of the well-thought-through dishes are on point. The menu is also designed to be inclusive, which means there are plenty of delicious vegetarian dishes, including the absolute highlight of crispy sprouts with a honey and sriracha glaze.

Desserts veer towards the decadent, with concoctions such as waffle apple pie black sesame ice cream, and fried brownie with raspberry marshmallows and ice cream, while the drinks list features affordable but quality wines, and creative cocktails. Combined with the warm, friendly service, this is that rare Dubai restaurant that gets it right on most counts.
