Kohantei

Try the ultimate Japanese kaiseki experience in a discreet little restaurant tucked away by Dubai Opera.

The tiny, unpretentious restaurant is reminiscent of a traditional inn in Japan with its minimalist décor, low seating in private rooms, and all-Japanese team.

The kaiseki meal is meticulously crafted with hyper-seasonal ingredients, carefully sourced directly from Japan - with a focus on top-shelf Wagyu beef - to make for a series of courses that truly excite and delight the palate. What you are served in the mystery degustation-style meal depends entirely on what produce head chef Hisao Ueda procures from his personal suppliers, but they may include intricate dishes such as marinated deep fried seafood with shallot and paprika, with canola flower topped with bonito flakes; fresh salmon, tuna, and prawn sashimi with house-made wasabi; grilled Wagyu with deep fried potato and shisito peppers, and citrus soy sauce on the side; and boiled Wagyu served with marinated onions as a cold dish.

Complemented with the gracious, authentic service, and a beverage menu featuring a wide selection fine sakes, this is as close to Japan as U can get in Dubai without getting on a plane!

The kaiseki menus are priced at AED 395 (for six courses); AED 495 (seven courses); AED 790 (eight courses of sushi, sashimi, and Japanese beef); and AED 1,155 (eight courses of Japanese beef). A small lunch menu is also available. Reservations are essential as they get booked out very quickly.
