The Jungle Bird

A tropical cocktail bar inspired by the playful spirit of the classic tropical drink first created in the 1970s.

The bar gets its name from a cocktail invented in Malaysia in 1978, and along with the flavors of Southeast Asia - have inspired this classy, laid-backjoint - from a Gramercy Tavern alum.

Expect playful cocktails with a focus on tropical ingredients and retro garnishes, with the eponymous “jungle bird” punch served on tap or $60 for the table. The food menu is inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, with dishes such as Chinese duck sausage; a Thai beef jerky and pickle board, and a turmeric chicken salad.

The two-level mid-century modern space (with tropical vibes) houses a main bar downstairs and another upstairs - with teal chairs, light-brown leather banquettes and abstract murals of nude figures by Los Angeles's based painter Jessalyn Brooks. Pull up a seat, order a drink and stay awhile. Opens daily at 3pm.
