The Bar at Baccarat Hotel

The opulent Midtown Manhattan property is the namesake of French crystal maker Baccarat, so naturally features a modest 15,000 pieces of crystal stemware and 17 chandeliers.

At the crystal-clad bar (above), visitors to this high-luxury hotel, can have a sample of the menu available in the hotel restaurant, Chevalier, from top chef Shea Gallante. In his bar snacks menu, the French classics are mixed up with New York and Asian influences, from lobster dumplings to caviar & petite potato buns, with a cocktail list on offer too.

It looks like a cross between a great American long bar and grand French ballroom: dark and rich with crimson velvets, 18th century fine art hung salon-style, and glittering red Baccarat chandeliers. There’s a small yet sumptuous terrace too, with a working fireplace and views of MoMA across the street.
