Feniger and Milliken's latest restaurant - located within Santa Monica’s Gateway Hotel - is a play on SoCal and “zocalo,” the Spanish word for a town square in Mexico and adds to their mini-empire of Mexican-inspired restaurants spanning LAX to Las Vegas - including modern Mexican concept, Border Grill.
The menu, distinct from Border Grill’s Mexican fare, has been inspired by the chefs’ recent travels to Mexico, in particular Tijuana. Think SoCal Mexican fare such as tacos and ceviche with small batch tequila and mezcal pairings. The beachy space houses long communal tables in a dining room framed by large windows that look out onto Santa Monica Boulevard with an extended patio.
