The Most Anticipated Hotel Openings in New York, 2021

The spate of trendy new hotel openings this year is set to continue with the announcement of several exciting new upcoming additions and launches.

Six Senses New York

The luxury hotel group - with its commitment to wellness and sustainable practices - is set to open its first North American property - a key element of The XI - two unique, twisting towers designed by world-renowned architect Bjarke Ingels, in an unparalleled location in between Manhattan’s Hudson River and The High Line. Its 137 rooms, spread across 10 storeys, sit in the East Tower offering up views over the High Line, the river, and Downtown and Midtown’s skyscrapers. Two restaurants showcase the brand’s popular culinary approach to wellness, and the Six Senses Spa will introduce a new direction of wellness treatments. The hotel aims to become LEED-certified.

Aman New York

Aman hotels and resorts are usually situated in exotic landscapes such as Cambodia or a private island in Montenegro. The new Aman New York transplants the signature serene experience to one of the world's busiest cities. The development occupies the Crown Building situated in the heart of Manhattan on the corner of 5th Avenue and 57th Street. Aman New York, comprises a luxury hotel with 83 rooms and suites and 22 Aman-branded private residences and a 25,000-square-foot spa that spans three stories and features a 65-foot indoor swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms, hot and cold plunge pools, and an outdoor terrace with cabana, daybed, and fireplace. Elsewhere in the building you’ll find a subterranean jazz bar, wraparound garden terrace overlooking Central Park, and dining spots including the Italian restaurant Arva and Japanese dining concept Nama. A gilded retreat in the heart of Manhattan.

Casa Cipriani

Located on the water in Lower Manhattan, the iconic Battery Maritime Building, one of the last remaining Beaux-Arts style ferry terminals of the twentieth century, designed in 1906, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It is being developed into Casa Cipriani, as a private members club. The building includes 47 rooms and suites hotel with private balconies overlooking the Brooklyn bridge and the Statue of Liberty and an outpost of KX Gym - London's most exclusive health club. 

Pendry Manhattan West

The brand's first New York property and part of the eight-acre, six-building mixed-use Hudson Yards development on Manhattan's West Side, the hotel will feature 164 guestrooms including 30 suites, a signature restaurant, a lounge and open-air terrace bar. Designed by acclaimed architectural design firm, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill with interiors by Gachot Studios, and set to bring the "most compelling aspects of both coasts - California ease and Manhattan energy' to New York City.  

Chatwal Lodge

Located inside The Chapin Estate in Sullivan County - 90 miles from New York City, Chatwal Lodge aims to bring a touch of urban luxury to the tranquil countryside – as a sister property to New York’s esteemed The Chatwal. Poised for opening in April 2021, accommodation includes 10 spacious suites, a treehouse that reaches 25ft into the forest canopy and a cozy glam tent for guests hoping to fully immerse themselves in nature. Each of the suites will have private patios overlooking the 1,000-acre Toronto Reservoir and the 30-acre environmentally protected estate, and features unique design details carved from the very woods that surround the lodge. The amenities on offer will be expansive, with guests privy to a host of activities including fishing, kayaking and spa treatments. The culinary offerings will focus on authentic farm to fork dining.
