New York bartending vet Giuseppe Gonzales has put together a menu of drinks with nods to legendary bartenders like Julie Reiner (Flat Iron Lounge, Clover Club), Audry Saunders (Pegu Club), Jeffrey Morganthaller (Pepe Le Moko in Portland) and Jeff Bell (PDT) that play on classics but are nothing like you've ever had before. There is a whole section devoted to Vodka, showing that it can be more that just a clear spirit and a dedicated program of bespoke cocktails, where they'll build you something unique around a base of your choice.
The style of the bar itself is like an old English pub, only with a very New York soul featuring plenty of wood, booths for settling into and sketches of familiar faces covering the walls. Word on the street is a secret bar will be opening soon hidden inside, but for the time being, this front bar is where you want to be.
A third generation New York bartender and Golden Cadillac, Dutch Kills, and Mother's Ruin alum, this is Gonzales' first venture and has recruited Nick Wright from London's Milk & Honey to man the bar.
There will also be a small but concise food menu, including a fish platter from nearby Russ & Daughters.
