With windows wrapping around the bar leading out to wood decked terrace, every seat in boutique Hotel Hugo's 6,000-square-foot rooftop bar has a great view of the Hudson River and Lady Liberty in the distance.
The lighting is low, the music spot on, and the walls covered with a rotating array of interesting artwork. It's subdued and elegant, with leather, blown glass and polished stainless steel details, and located in the new media hub of Hudson Square attracts a fashionable downtown crowd.
Operated by restaurateur Sean Largotta of Crown Group Hospitality (The Lion, Bill's Food & Drink and Crown), the cocktails and small plates are both delicious. Upstairs is an al fresco terrace open in summer season where they host private events from launches and parties to spin classes and boozy brunches.
