The owners, Avery Glasser of Bittermens and Ravi DeRossi, a famous force behind many bars including Death and Co. and Bourgeois Pig, take cocktails very seriously; but the cozy aura of Amor y Amargo is far from serious. Picture your favorite neighborhood bar, with the added bonus of a banging cocktail list.
The menu suggests a lovely array of ever-changing, boozy house cocktails, or their spin on a classic. For example, the Gin & Tonic includes Commonwealth Tonic Liqueur, Hopped Grapefruit Bitters and Maraschino. If you're hungry, the snack menu boasts one of the best scotch eggs we've tried.
Amor y Amargo also allows its patrons to bring the experience home. Their tiny interior dually serves as a general store for the modern day barkeep (or lover of drink), flaunting some of the best selections in small batch bitters and bar tools. As well, they offer classes taught by DeRossi himself, helping spread the knowledge of basic bartending and spirits.
If U're not a night owl, stop by on the weekend for an afternoon buzz by way of a coffee cocktail paired with Fernet Branca Lox.
Night caps, dates, snacks, boozy afternoons.
Sharpie Mustache made with Meletti Amaro, Bonal, rye whiskey, gin and Tiki Bitters.
