Eric Demby and Jonathan Butler are the minds behind Berg’n; and, having been the creators of Smorgasburg and Brooklyn Flea, this beer hall and street food hub counts as the next step in their well-curated endeavor to make Brooklyn a tastier place.
The beautifully converted garage is lined with rows of communal benches - Bavarian style but without the kitsch - and a long bar covering one wall of the room offering a slew of microbrews on draft and by the bottle. They also offer wine and a small selection of cocktails. The other wall accommodates the likes of Asia Dog, Mighty Quinn’s and Ramen Burger - perfect munchies while drinking. Most recently the Sussman brothers - who already run shawarma stand Samesa - have opened up a second outlet here, Ed & Bev’s Detroit-Style Coney Island, offering a Michigan spin on a Greek diner serving coney dogs laden with raw white onions, yellow mustard and brisket chili.
By night they have events from trivia and games nights, to DJs playing over the weekend.
