Orsa & Winston

Josef Centeno's tasting-menu restaurant Downtown entices all the senses with its Italian-cum-Japanese inspired menu.

Downtown Los Angeles has come along way in the past few years and what was once a culinary dead zone is now a thriving hub of fantastic restaurants. Among them is Orsa & Winston, the fine dining restaurant from chef Josef Centeno, whose other restaurants are Downtown successes, Bäco Mercat and Bar Amá.

Featuring nightly-changing tasting menus, the restaurant incorporates flavors and sensibilities of both Italian and Japanese cuisines in an intimate 32-seat dining room and open kitchen. A "super-omakase" tasting menu of 20+ courses is available with advance reservations at the four-seat chef's counter.

Dishes might include raw Tasmanian sea trout with yuzu kosho, shaved radish, olive oil, pink grapefruit and micro herbs; Koshihikari rice (risotto-style Japanese rice) with sea urchin and geoduck; or ravioli filled with egg yolk and goat’s milk ricotta with braised beef cheek, English peas and pickled red currant. The vibe is relaxed and informal, with the delicate and sophisticated small plates taking centre stage.
