Eatsa

Focusing on quinoa bowls, this automated restaurant offers a glimpse into the future.

Eatsa is a vegetarian restaurant originating in San Francisco, which has made its Southern California debut at The Village at Westfield Topanga.

Its menu features eight different quinoa-based bowls, including Mediterranean-inspired, curry and even a burrito bowl. All of Eatsa's bowls are below 646 calories making for a healthy, protein-packed, calorie-conscious and tasty lunch option.

Eatsa is completely automated - there is no host, no waiters or even tables. Instead the restaurant is an empty space with a wall lined with iPads, another featuring "interactive clear cubbies" (aka glass doors) as well as a wall fitted with motion sensors that dispense cutlery. Ordering is very high-tech: you operate  an iPad and slide your credit card to start the ordering process, then select your bowl, or create your own.
