1212

A sweeping, two-story restaurant along Santa Monica's iconic promenade offering globally-inspired flavors with locally-sourced ingredients.

Named after its address and housed in the former Monsoon Café, the 10,000sq ft restaurant features a completely remodelled interior. While the downstairs holds a bar and most of the dining tables, upstairs is a second bar and private event space, with room for live music shows. Patio seating is also available on the main floor along with a glass façade in front for great views of the Promenade..

The kitchen of 1212 is headed up by Walter Greenwood, who previously worked at the celebrated Commanders Palace in New Orleans. His menu is market-driven and showcases internationally-inspired dishes like scallop and sea urchin risotto or a slow-cooked, Louisiana-style pork of cochon de lait served in crepe tacos. He also intends to offer monthly communal tasting dinners to highlight the best of what's in season at the market.

Cocktails from the bars of 1212 have been designed by beverage director Fred Ghiassi, who has worked at Cassia and Baltaire, and also feature local produce and house-made infusions.
