Ever wonder how Hell's Kitchen got its name? Well, legend has it there was an old cop called Dutch Fred, who patrolled the block who once said that Hell itself had a milder climate and that the area was Hells Kitchen and it stuck. This bar from the same team as Tanner Smith's, The Mean Fiddler and Three Monkeys has now opened a bar with a serious nod to the good old days and old Dutch himself.
Long and narrow with low, fire-paneled ceilings and a back bar that looks like something out of an F Scott Fitzgerald book, this place is a bar first and restaurant second, with a cocktail program that pays homage to the early days of the neighborhood with drinks like the Curtain Call and Dutch Courage, plus small food plates like crostini with goat cheese and fig jam, roasted carrot salad and flatbreads.
If cocktails aren't your game, they've got you covered with a wide selection of beer with 24 different brews on hand plus a modest wine list.
Pre-theatre drinks and stylish nibbles.
