Beijing Chef Dong Zhenxiang is bringing his much-lauded roast duck restaurant Da Dong to New York this year. Being housed in the same building as the offices of MetLife, along with the new Midtown Whole Foods and jewellery store Pandora, down near Bryant Park, the property was going for $2.3 million per year, so it's safe to say this is going to be a very grand affair. Spread over two floors with multiple outdoor terraces and nearly 13,000 square feet, this mammoth space will be Zhenxiang's first foray into the US market.
Known for their acclaimed roast duck, Da Dong serves classic cuisine in upscale environments with style. Considered by many to be the best Peking Duck in the world, they use a particular kind of duck with is less fatty, while still retaining its smoky flavour with juicy meat and crispy skin.
The opening date is still unknown but should be sometime in the next year.
