Destroyer

Former Red Medicine chef Jordan Kahn has launched a neighborhood café in Culver City serving breakfast and lunch only.

Kahn, whose CV includes stints at celebrated three-Michelin-star restaurants including the French Laundry, Per Se and Alinea, decided to leave the realms of fine dining and focus on counter service only, with a menu that changes daily. That said, his dishes are definitely reminiscent of high-end restaurants, with a very artictis approach to his plating.

Destroyer, referencing a comet, is a tiny, 16-seat breakfast and lunch space in Hayden Tract, an industrial area turned design district in Culver City.

There’s a distinctly Nordic theme to the menu here: for breakfast you might have a slice of Icelandic rye with cultured butter and preserves, while for lunch you may choose the black carrots with sunflower seed, sorrel and roasted kale oil.

For now Destroyer is open weekdays only from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. but weekend service is set to start in the next two months.
