House of Wax

Housed within the Alamo Draft House inside City Point, this sultry cocktail bar will have you leaving with more knowlage of the human anatomy than you arrived.

The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in downtown Brooklyn ticks a lot of boxes for style, service and an incredible offering. The cherry on top, however, has to be their gothically inspired in-house bar called The House of Wax. Dark and moody, a long bar decorated with Turkish rugs, dim chandeliers, secluded booths and walls covered in glass display cases holding the wax shapes of death masks, medical unusualities, and very graphic body parts.

Based on the sideshow attractions of the 1800's, this museum has amassed a vast collection of vintage wax figures that, while they don't look real, will certainly be hard to tear your eyes from. Many of the models were originally for medical studies, but they found a new lease on life via creating a spectacle. Most of it is ghastly, but tucked at the back is an "adult section" filled with wax sculptures of genital, birthings abnormalities, STD's and more. It's an eyeful.

The museum aside, the food and drinks are top notch with several cocktails on Tap alongside their 48-strong draft beer list, all exclusively from New York. Food is very shareable with spiced nuts,  gourmet hot dogs and flatbread.
