Elsa

After a three-year absence, the fashion inspired bar is returning with a big location change and a new look.

After a three year closure, Alphabet City darling 'Elsa' will reopen. It'll be a bit different this time around, with the location changing dramatically over the river to Cobble Hill. While the original location doubled as a bar and men's boutique suit tailor, the Phoenix version is a bit more drink focused with a regularly changing menu of twenty speciality cocktails, plus wines and beer which are somehow “funnelled through an ancient sewing machine,” loosely in keeping with the opening inspiration of 20th-century fashion icon, Elsa Schiaparelli.

The Manhattan location was open from 2008 until 2014 when rising rent and landlord issues forced them to close, although they always had the intention to reopen elsewhere, although no one thought it would take so long. In the meantime, they have been focusing on their other venture, Ramona, in Greenpoint.
