No other city can lay claim to delicious Mexican street tacos more than Los Angeles. At Petty Cash Taqueria, skilled chefs (chef Walter Manzke of Republique is behind the menu) and mixologists (Julian Cox gets credit for cocktails) have elevated classic street fare to fine dining standards. The look is super casual though, with some seating on communal picnic tables, and original art from local street artists (including a large graffiti wall by RETNA). The bar area is open air (weather permitting).
The tempting cocktails, made with premium spirits and fresh squeezed juices, don’t overshadow the food. Expert tortilla makers hand-make the corn tortillas to order; the meat, seafood and vegetables are sourced from organic farmers and the highest quality producers. Tortilla chips are cooked to order, arriving crisp and salty to pair with the piquant house salsas. Open for dinner every night; lunch only on Sunday. The atmosphere is boisterous most nights and the bar seems to attract a fair share of lovelies.
Happy hour (5 to 6 p.m. only), quick bites, dinner, cocktails.
