El Portalon

Chef, organic farmer and author Anne Sijmonsbergen's first restaurant following the release of her debut book ‘Eivissa: The Ibiza Cookbook'

The restaurant, in partnership with restaurateur Justin Mallett, is located on Plaça dels Desemparats in Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s old town. The 60-cover restored site has space for 20 inside, spread across two rustic-styled dining areas and a bar, with large wooden doors leading on to a pretty outside terrace where there is space for a further 40 to dine in the floral al fresco courtyard.

The menu is ingredient and seasonality-led, using produce from Can Riero, Anne’s organic farm, as well as sourcing from Ibiza’s local artisan producers. Expect modern Ibizan dishes such as ‘juniper encrusted pork tenderloin’, ‘steamed mussels with samphire’ and ‘courgette and asparagus tostadas with ricotta and mint’ alongside charcuterie boards that showcase the island’s local cured meats and cheeses, and house-made breads, ketchups and pickles.

Drinks at El Portalon follow the same ethos as the food, with Ibiza-inspired cocktails using homemade ingredients such as plum and apricot puree and flash distilled herb cocktails from Can Riero. These sit alongside a European-focused wine list with a strong Spanish offering. Closed on Sundays.
