The Office

Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas have landed in NYC with the opening of this speakeasy at the top of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

The owners of the Chicago-based Alinea Group have launched what is already considered one of the hottest new bars in New York City, a place that screams luxury at the top of its lungs.

Huge ceilings overlook the 44-seat space, where brown leather and dark wood make for ultimate comfort. In the absence of windows, they have even outfitted the space with LED lights that mimic the sun setting in the evening.

The menu too spares no expense, with indulgencies like foie gras, Jamon Iberico, and caviar delighting diners. There’s also a $265 seven-course menu that comes with five drinks or an a la carte menu to choose from. Luxury is not skipped on the drinks menu either, with an entire section devoted to rare spirits that cost up to $500 an ounce.

If U want luxury, this is the place for U.
