L.A. foodies are abuzz about this eatery that brings Asian street food to a brick-and-mortar location in the heart of Chinatown (close to downtown Los Angeles). Opened in late December 2014, the small storefront Northern Thai eatery (with a counter and several stools) serves up fried jasmine rice and a variety of flavorful stir fried Thai noodle dishes. Authenticity of flavors and ingredients is Ricker’s hallmark. House made Thai ice tea and flavored vinegar sodas are there to cool down diners if there’s too much heat.
While the Far East Plaza (a very unassuming two-storey mall between Broadway and Hill) seems an unlikely place for a foodie pilgrimage, the food court is not only home to Pok Pok Phat Thai and Roy Choi’s Chego (Korean multi-ingredient fried rice and noodle dishes are draws) but a new ramen spot, Champ, is set to open mid-January.
