2nd Floor

Hidden above the 2nd Ave Deli is a great little Upper East Side cocktail bar.

Brothers Jeremy and Josh Lebewohl, who own the storied Jewish deli on First Avenue, have opened 2nd Floor, a cocktail lounge just above the restaurant, with a separate entrance on East 75th Street.

The bar has a glamorous vintage atmosphere, with reclaimed wood floors, leather banquettes, a pressed-tin ceiling, and a brass cocktail bar.

Paying homage to the downstairs restaurant, 2nd Floor’s food menu is filled with modern twists on Jewish deli classics, overseen by chef David Teyf. Think birch smoked tongue sliders, pastrami devilled eggs, and stuffed Helzel (hand sewed stuffed chicken skin).

The drinks menu has been put together by bar director Jason Jeffords III, and what’s unusual about it is that it is certified kosher. Try the Man-O-Manischewitz, a spin on the Bramble gin cocktail using a syrup made from Manischewitz wine; or Kanpai Hawaii with Japanese whiskey, Venezuelan rum, pineapple rum, macadamia, coconut and absinthe.
