On a rapidly developing stretch of Kent Avenue, The Camlin is a casual neighbourhood spot serving wine and cocktails, plus bar snacks like oysters and charcuterie, along with some larger shared plates. Wine from emerging regions, like Virginia and Canada, join the menu of French bottles from the Rhône, Bordeaux and Alsace.
Oser and Casaus are fans of what they call ‘cheese o’clock’ – that time of day when you are not ready for a full dinner, so you order a couple of sides of cheese and a bottle of wine. At The Camlin, those cheeses - both American and European - are presented on butcher blocks made by Adam Lesser, a Brooklyn woodworker.
Charcuterie, such as coppa and lardo, is sourced from New Jersey farms and there are sharing dishes like panko-crusted chorizo croquettes and harissa-spiced lamb skewers.
