Grünhaus

The team behind Williamsburg’s beer hall Spritzenhaus has brought a new watering hole to Manhattan's Lower East SIde.

Housed in the former Spitzer’s Corner site, the space features two spacious rooms with adjacent bars, communal tables. In the summer, large floor to ceiling windows will open to transform the beer hall into an airy beer garden.

The menu is a mish mash of European and American comfort food, with 10 different house-made sausages on pretzel buns (choose from bratwurst, rabbit & veal, duck and venison or a vegetarian sausage) and toppings such as sauerkraut, chorizo chili with cheese and jalapeno-jicama coleslaw. There are also Belgian fries and Sigmund’s pretzels and a token healthy black kale salad.

The drinks list features more than 30 rotating beers on tap, bottle or can. Among them is the Fulton Standard, a true amber American lager, and the Radeberger, a golden pilsner with a light fruity aroma. There are Belgian ales like St. Feuillien that Grünhaus calls its "sexiest beer" and ciders, including one from Brooklyn Cider House.
