Blue Quarter

A hidden cocktail bar has opened in the East Village, tucked away behind Middle Eastern restaurant Local 92.

Accessed through the restaurant, Blue Quarter is narrower but longer than its older sibling, with 18 seats and room for up to 35 people. As any secret bar should be, the place is dark and cozy, featuring exposed brick and deep wooden furnishings, brightened with blue colors for a Mediterranean- Moroccan touch. Owner Max Green combines his love for tea and cocktails behind the bar, bringing U a line-up of innovative and exotic creations.

Indeed tea takes center stage on the cocktail menu, combining flavors from the Middle East to Southeast Asia. The Oolong Island Iced Tea takes this to the edge: It’s served in vintage Coca-Cola bottles with red-and-white striped paper straws.
