Diamond Horseshoe

In the basement beneath the Paramount Hotel, from 1938 to 1951, the Diamond Horseshoe nightclub became famed for its vaudeville-style performances, featuring some of the era’s top entertainers.

It even inspired a musical, Billy Rose’s Diamond Horseshoe, starring Betty Grable, in 1945. The walls were painted with deep red and white and the staircase was wallpapered with posters of bygone stars.

Then, for sixty years, it lay fallow, until, in 2013, Randy Weiner and Simon Hammerstein, creators of theatre for The Box, decided to give it a new lease of life. Now, almost 80 years after it first opened, following a $20 million renovation, the club serves as a nightlife destination and venue for theatrical experiences.

There’s a vast ballroom in the basement, two bars, banquet-style tables and private rooms available for hire.
