Ghost Donkey

With a menu fueled by Mezcal, a massive selection of seriously decked out chips and a thing for Donkeys, this drinking den is perfect.

From the same peeps at Genuine Liquorette comes this little, easily overlooked den of mezcal and nachos. Hidden on Bleeker, just behind Saxon & Parole, enter and find exposed bricks and a million red fairy lights, giving the place a vaguely fiesta feel, which really should be what every day feels like, obviously.

Nacho Jimenez and Eben Freeman are the guys in charge of the liquids and they have a serious thing for Agave spirits - specifically mezcal, although tequila definitely has its place in the bar. Try their twist of a Mezcal Negroni with Soledad Soledad Ejutla, aquavit, Punt e Mes, Campari, and bitters. Rolling with a crew? Be sure to order El Burro Fantasma made with Peloton de la Muerte, Aperol, agave, lime, pink grapefruit, and chilli - it's built to share.

On the food front, they've got Chef Brad Farmerie doing his thing with the nachos and other snacks. Ceviche, killer guacamole, corn nuts, and more, but really, look at those pimped up chips. Covering corn chips with toppings like white cheddar, black truffle and chives, or mole chicken with cheddar, jalapenos, and red cabbage.
