Legend has it that Chateau de Bagatelle was the result of a bet between Marie-Antoinette and her brother-in-law, who would later become Charles X. It is said that Marie-Antoinette told her brother-in-law that he was not capable of building the chateau in two months. The challenge was accepted and won. Today, the restaurant rests is in the converted 19th-century stables belonging to the Château de Bagatelle.
This is the perfect place you can escape to if you haven't been able to get away this summer. Among the greenery of Bois de Bologne and the grandeur of the chateau, it can seem like Paris is hundreds of miles away, and the hustle and bustle of the city no longer seem to exist.
The menu is French modern fusion with house favourites such as salmon, avocado and mango tartare (€14), beef tartare Aubrac with french fries (€22), and the chateau filet with apples Darphin and béarnaise sauce (€26).
For dessert why not channel your Marie-Antoinette with a selection of tempting macaroons and champagne. And of course, be sure to have a wander and discover the beautiful park that has been an inspiration and setting for artists and writers throughout the ages.
