The Aviary

Chef Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas have launched their James Beard award-winning cocktail bar from Chicago in New York.

Hot on the heels of opening their speakeasy bar, The Office, the duo has now got their two exclusive drinking spots at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Columbus Circle up running. Located atop the hotel, the 90-seat bar offers panoramic views of Central Park and to die for cocktails. Just like his three-Michelin-starred restaurant Alinea, the bar program at the Aviary will entice U with cocktail and culinary wizardry. Try the Wake and Bake, a mix of single barrel rye whiskey and vermouth infused with coffee and orange, delivered inside a sealed plastic and sliced open tableside to reveal the distinctive scent of a classic everything bagel.

The food is largely Japanese inspired and includes delights like a black truffle explosion, octopus croquettes and pork belly curry. Menus are offered as part of all-day dining featuring breakfast, brunch and small lunch plates with dinner focusing on more substantial plates.

Reservations are taken one week in advance. If U get one, don’t miss the five-course tasting menu of cocktails and canapés for $135.
