Initially built by Dutch artist Ary Scheffer in 1830 as his own personal villa, the location was the place for writers such as George Sands to mingle with artists and composers from all over Europe. Guests at Scheffer's soirées, included among others Chopin and Liszt who fought for attention of the enigmantic writer George Sands.
Now the villa has been converted to a museum that pays hommage among other to such artistic celebrities and recalls the history and influence those personalities left behind.
But it is the museum's cafe that draws the attention with its secret terrace and Belle Epoque vibe. Whether you enjoy a little glass of wine after your visit or sit down for a full meal, U won't be disappointed.
