The interior design is wonderfully pleasing to the eye, while still retaining a certain Bollywood feel, but its the cuisine that has won the locals over and is still progressively acquiring a number of admirers.
Located in the busy and popular 2nd arrondissement, on the famous Rue Montmartre, this is an Indian restaurant on a mission. The aim of Papadoom is to do away with the notion of Indian as kistch and instead show Indian cuisine for what it is a celebration of tastes, spices and friendly gatherings in a welcoming and warm atmosphere.
We love the cocktail bar which serves an amusing meddley of everything from the Bollywood Punch a cocktail made with with rum, cardamom, lemon juice, coriander and Prosecco, to a Lassi Mango.
There is a wide range of choice in fares, but we strongly recommend the lentil and pea fritters accompanied by mint yoghurt sauce, the marinated and grilled prawns with sweet spices accompanied by Indian cakes and basmati rice, and for the vegetarians the curry chickpeas served with sweet potatoes and spinach or the unconditional naan, made with real cheddar.
Papadoom may have a big mission on its hand, but so far its off to a great start.
