This is a cafe for those who hate to work from home but love to get busy amid a sea of locals, while sipping coffee and eavesdropping.

This is a concept cafe. Here, you don't even pay for your drink but for the hour. Yes, it may sound dodgy but it works beautifully. Drinks and a light buffet are provided as part of the package which starts at €4 for the first hour, and €2 for every hour thereafter. The buffet also includes juices, biscuits, brioche and Nutella, while a few deluxe items, such as fresh pressed orange juice is available for a small extra fee.

But it is not simply the concept and the buffet that we love, the real reason to head here to work is because this is really a cafe geared for the self-employed. We love the work and laptop friendly environment that boasts in everything from free Wi-Fi to spacious working space and optimised lighting to a congeninal peace and quiet ambiance. 

And if you're bored, there are even board games available so you can kick back, relax and make friends with a local. 

As the formula has proven more than popular, there are now a few L'Anticafé venues in the city, but do try the Beaubourg location for a little more privacy and an extra dose of cool.
