There is something about Café de la Nouvelle Mairie that brings to mind old French films. Perhaps it is the waiters dressed in old fashion uniforms or the bistros zinc bar, its wooden tables, or the jazz soundtracks that play throughout the day, or maybe it's all these elements combined that seem to transport one to a bygone time. Whatever it is, the result is utterly charming.
Located in the renowned Latin Quarter this jazzy wine bistro is a real Parisian find. To start order a red glass from Loire, and follow it up with a terrine of the day or a chicken liver pate with dried fruits. Then ask the waiter for the menu and obesrve him bring you a massive chalk board to your table with the day's menu written on it. This is indeed old school fun.
After your lunch why not walk off your meal with a visit to the nearby Panthéon or the beautiful Jardin de Luxembourg. After all, when in the Latin Quarter...
