L'Office

Delicious cuisine, mellow ambiance, and great service, we love this neo-bistro in the vibrant 9th arrondissement.

There are a lot of gimmicky neo-bistros in Paris, which usually means high prices and haughty service, but this charming gem located on a nondescript street in the 9th arrondissement is something entirely different. For one thing, owner Charles Compagnon is always on premises making sure everything runs like clock work and that all fares are made with love and attention.

For starters do try the delightfully light and tasty asparagus with poached egg, or the boletus ravioli with shitake broth and mushroom espuma. Then move on to hearty main like the calf's liver accompanied with beetroot puree, polenta and prune condiment or go light but comforting with sea bream bouillabaisse (traditional French fish soup) with potatoes and fennel. Finally, top it all off with the house special dessert - figs poached in mulled wine with Breton shortbread and rosemary.

While the ambiance may be laid-back and chilled, the fares on your plate are a whole other story. L'Office is one of those rare places where your first visit gurantees a second and third return, at the very least.
