A multistory complex - spread over four floors of a beautiful 17th cnetury mansion - comprising a tea boutique and salon - for traditional tea ceremonies, pastry shop offering traditional 'wagashi', a tea counter, an art gallery, a crafts and artisinal store as well as an impressive restaurant and bar. The vision of the Tokyo-based architect, designer, restaurateur and chef Shinichiro Ogata.
Upstairs the 'wenge' bar serves tea-infused cocktails and speciality drinks inspired by the five senses. The adjoining restaurant (with open kitchen) is run by Ogata's long term collaborator chef Kazuki Watanabe dishing up an ever-changing menu of refined court-inspired dishes and regional specialties. Dishes include: duck and pear salad in a black vinegar and sudachi sauce and yellowtail cooked in sake and dressed with puréed turnips. Finally, the basement is home to a tea room where you can experience a traditional ritual in a traditional manner.
